Friday 29th November – walk **** - Martlesham Creek – sunny.

After a full-on month of decorating all but one room of our house and fantastic it looks too! Mag and I have nearly completed the project wit only a few finishing touches left we have some free time on our hands so it was nice to make the most of the sunshine. So, after having our new cooker wired in and having some things to take back to a builders merchant we first headed to Mags favourite place, B&M then the chaos that is Martlesham retail park before parking up just past the Martlesham Red Lion pub for a walk along the Creek. Mag dresses for the mud with her wellies, I cant remember so much rain failing in Suffolk, in fact the weather has been pretty depressing of let being wet and a lot colder than this time last year putting the skids on my windsurfing as the cold plays havoc with my finger joints, getting old is a wonderful thing and I think that once Christmas is out of the way we will search out some sunshine, I feel the need to foil in the warm and of course get some skiing in our favourite mountains! Leaving the van, the path enters some woodland full of Autumn colours before coming out at the end of Martlesham Creek and I don’t think we have ever seen the water so high! The houseboats are surrounded by swan plus an Egret with busy Little Grebes feeding. We followed the sea wall path towards Kyson Point with Reed Buntings flitting about and even a robin watching us pass. As we near the boat house at Kyson we have to stop as the high tide is over the path, Mag could get through in her wellies I can’t make it so we turn back. I then spot a fox sitting in the middle of a field, a passing train spooks him and he runs off showing off his magnificent tail :) With the sun now dropping behind the trees the temperature drops as we reach the creek end again. We continue up the slope to Church Lane and return to the van along the road spotting a Muntjac deer on the way! It was a lovely quiet walk of nearly three miles enjoying the best Suffolk has to offer and only seeing one lady on a mountain bike. It was then back to Felixstowe on the country lanes, then quickly going to the dock viewing point to watch the sunshine before visiting an old friend before picking up a bargain metal bed the same as our one for our spare bedroom, so a successful day all round:)
